Meal Preferences

Whether you’re organizing a seated dinner, a gala, or a conference with catering options, this block helps you gather and manage your guests’ meal selections in one place.

Updated this week

Adding a Meal Preferences Block

  1. In your event’s Form Builder, click “Add a question” within the section where you’d like to collect meal choices.

  2. From the menu that appears, select Meal Preferences (look for the plate-and-fork icon 🍽️).

  3. A default question such as “Please select your dinner choice” will appear on your form. You can edit this text to match your event (e.g. “Please select your lunch option” or “Choose your entrée”).

Customizing Meal Options

You can fully customize the available choices:

  • Click into each default option to rename it (e.g. Chicken, Steak, Vegetarian, Vegan).

  • Use “Add option” to include more choices.

  • To add multiple items quickly, use the “Add options in bulk” link and paste your full list.

If you’d like to make the question required, toggle the “Required” switch on the right-hand panel. Guests will then need to select an option before proceeding.

Requesting Payments (Optional)

If you’re offering meals with an additional cost, you can enable payments directly in this block:

  • Click on the Meal Preferences question.

  • In the right-hand panel, click on the 'Gear' icon of the meal choice.

  • Add pricing for each meal type (e.g. Chicken – $20, Steak – $25, Vegan – $18).

Guests will see these prices during registration, and charges will be processed at checkout.

Setting Limits

You can also limit the number of selections per option (useful if you have a limited number of meals available).
Under the settings of the meal selection, enter the maximum number of guests who can select each meal choice. Once an option reaches its limit, it will automatically be hidden from future registrants.

Display Logic

Use Logic settings if you only want the Meal Preferences block to appear for certain guests.
For example:

  • Show it only to guests tagged as Attending Reception.

  • Hide it for guests attending Cocktail Hour only.

Toggle “Display to guests tagged as…” or “Show/hide block if…” in the Logic section on the right-hand panel to set these conditions.

Pro Tips

  • Use clear meal names (e.g. Grilled Chicken with Vegetables) to help guests choose confidently.

  • Combine the Meal Preferences block with a Text Block above it for extra notes like “Please select one entrée per guest.”

  • You can view and export all meal selections from your Guest List or Responses tab.
