How to Connect a Payment Processor in Event Setting

Accepting payments for tickets, registrations, or donations starts with connecting a Stripe account to RSVPify. Once connected, you can use that payment account across one or more event forms and configure the currency used for each form.

Accepting payments for tickets, registrations, or donations starts with connecting a Stripe account to your event. Once connected, you can configure the currency, fees, and taxes for each registration form.

Before you begin

You'll need:

  • A Stripe account (or the ability to create one during setup)

  • Permission to manage Event Settings for your event

💡 Note: RSVPify partners with Stripe to securely process payments. Your payment information is managed through Stripe - RSVPify never stores your banking information.

Step 1: Open the Payments settings

From your event, navigate to Event Settings → Payments. If no payment processor has been connected yet, you'll see an empty Payment Accounts section.

Click Add an account.

Step 2: Choose Stripe

A menu appears listing the available payment processors. Currently, RSVPify supports Stripe.

Step 3: Connect your Stripe account

You'll be redirected securely to Stripe. If you're already signed into Stripe, select the account you'd like to connect. If you don't yet have a Stripe account, choose Create a new account and follow Stripe's setup process.

Stripe may ask you to:

  • Verify your identity

  • Confirm your business information

  • Connect your bank account

  • Review and approve RSVPify's access

Once approved, Stripe automatically redirects you back to RSVPify.

Step 4: Wait for the connection to complete

After authorizing Stripe, you'll briefly see a processing screen while RSVPify finishes connecting your payment account. This typically takes only a few seconds.

Step 5: Confirm your payment account

After the connection is complete, you'll be redirected back to RSVPify. Your Stripe account now appears in the Payment Accounts section, where you can view:

  • The connected payment account

  • The Stripe processing fee

  • The email address associated with the Stripe account

  • Which forms are currently assigned to the account

  • Whether it's your default payment account

If you manage multiple organizations or clients, you can connect additional Stripe accounts and assign each one to different forms.

Step 6: Configure your form payment settings

Scroll down to the Form payment settings section to configure how this form accepts payments - including which payment account it uses, the currency guests pay in, and any optional fee or tax settings.

Payment account

Choose which connected Stripe account should process payments for this form. If you've connected multiple Stripe accounts, use the Payment Account dropdown to select the appropriate one. This allows different forms within the same event to use different payment accounts when needed.

Currency

Choose the currency guests will use when making payments through this form. The currency you select determines what's displayed during checkout and the currency in which payments are processed.

Use the Currency dropdown to select the appropriate currency for your event. RSVPify supports a wide range of Stripe-supported currencies, including USD, EUR, AUD, CAD, and many more.

Sales tax

Enable Sales Tax if you're required to collect sales tax on tickets, registrations, or other paid items. Applicable tax is calculated during checkout based on your payment configuration.

Payment Processor Fee Passthrough

Enable Payment Processor Fee Passthrough to pass Stripe's processing fee on to your guests. When enabled, the applicable processing fee is added to the guest's total during checkout instead of being absorbed by your organization. Guests will see the additional fee reflected in their total before completing payment.

RSVPify Fee Passthrough

Enable RSVPify Fee Passthrough to pass RSVPify's transaction fee on to your guests. When enabled, the RSVPify fee is added to the guest's total during checkout rather than being deducted from your event proceeds. Guests will see the additional fee reflected in their total before completing payment.

💡 Planner tip: Before publishing your event, complete a test registration using a small payment amount. This helps verify your payment account, currency, taxes, fee settings, confirmation emails, and overall checkout experience before guests begin registering.

Step 7: Finish activating your Stripe account

Connecting Stripe to RSVPify and activating your Stripe account are two separate steps. Both must be complete before you can collect payments.

Connecting is what you did in the steps above. It links your Stripe account to your event and does not require a website.

Activating happens in Stripe, not in RSVPify. Stripe verifies your identity and, in most cases, asks for a business website. Stripe checks that the link you provide is live and not password protected, so an unpublished RSVPify event URL will be rejected.

You have two ways to satisfy this:

  • Publish your event first, then give Stripe your live event URL. Publishing only makes your event page viewable online. It does not send invitations and it does not notify any of your guests, so it's safe to publish before you're ready to invite people.

  • Give Stripe a different link. Your organization's website works, and Stripe also accepts the full URL of a social media profile (for example, facebook.com/profile/yourorganization) if you don't have a website.

💡 Note: Your event can stay unpublished while you connect Stripe and test your checkout experience. Stripe will not finish activating your account, and payouts will not begin, until it has a live, publicly viewable URL on file.

Next steps

Now that your payment processor is connected, you can:

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my payment account later?

Yes. Return to Event Settings → Payments to connect additional Stripe accounts, change your default payment account, or assign a different payment account to your forms.

Do I have to publish my event before I can connect Stripe?

No. You can connect Stripe to your event at any time while your event is still unpublished. Publishing only becomes relevant if Stripe asks for a business website and you want to use your event page as that URL, since Stripe requires the link to be live.

How do I get paid?

You get paid through Stripe, not through RSVPify. When a guest pays for a ticket or registration, Stripe processes the payment and deposits the funds directly into the bank account you linked in Stripe. RSVPify never holds or accesses your funds.

For new Stripe accounts, your first payout typically arrives 7 days after your first successful payment (up to 14 days in some industries). After that, Stripe sends payouts on a rolling basis according to your Stripe payout schedule. You can check your payout status anytime in Stripe under Balances.
