Send a test email before you send to your guest list

Before sending any campaign email to your guests, send yourself a preview to check layout, content, and links - directly from the email builder.

Before sending any campaign email to your full guest list, you can send yourself (or a small group) a preview directly from the email builder. It takes one click and lets you catch layout issues, broken links, or copy errors before anything goes to your guests.

How to send a test email

  1. Open Invitations & Emails from your event dashboard.

  2. Hover over your email campaign and click Actions → Open, or click the campaign name directly.

  3. In the email builder, click Send test email in the top-right corner.

  4. In the Send preview panel that opens, confirm or add up to 3 recipient email addresses.

  5. Click Send test email.

The test email lands in your inbox within a few minutes. Check it across different devices and email clients if possible.

What to expect in a test email

The test email shows your email exactly as it's designed - layout, colors, images, buttons, and content blocks all render as they would for a real send.

One important thing to know: merge tags do not populate in test emails. If your email includes {} First name or any other guest-specific merge tag, those will appear as placeholder text rather than real values. This is expected behavior — the test send has no guest record to pull data from.

💡 Tip: If you want to verify that your merge tags are pulling the correct guest data, send the email to a small group of real guests first - for example, filter your guest list to just your internal team members and send to them as a live test before sending to your full list.

What to check before sending to your full list

  • Subject line appears correctly in your inbox

  • Sender name and reply-to address look right

  • All images load correctly

  • Buttons and links click through to the right destination

  • Layout looks good on both desktop and mobile

  • Any static copy (dates, venue, contact details) is accurate
