RSVPify is integrated with an enterprise-grade service called SendGrid to help ensure max deliverability of transactional emails to our users. SendGrid is used by many leading applications across the web.
SendGrid works hard to keep emails out of SPAM folders to reach your inbox. Despite these efforts, it's still possible that an email may not reach you. Here's some troubleshooting tips:
- Ensure you have email confirmations turned 'on.' Open your event, click Setup, click Emails and ensure that the relevant option(s) are selected.
- Check your 'SPAM' or junk mail folder. Your confirmation email could be there.
- Add 'firstname.lastname@example.org' to your 'safe senders' list to ensure our email can reach you.
- Double-check that you don't have any email filters setup that may be directing RSVPify confirmations to a different folder or the trash can.
- If you are on a corporate network and using a business email address, contact your IT department for further assistance after following the tips above.
Did you stop receiving RSVPify emails all of a sudden?
Unfortunately, some smaller email providers, as well as some corporate email servers, use an outdated method of filtering for SPAM that references once-popular services that "blacklist" emails originating from a given IP address, group of IP addresses, or particular email server.
Such services -- in many cases in existence since the early 2000s with few updates to their technology since -- rely on end email recipients to report SPAM, and in turn block messages from that server from successfully being delivered to ALL users of their service. Unfortunately, end users often errantly report legitimate transactional emails from services they've signed up for as SPAM, causing these 3rd-party blacklists to block ALL emails from legitimate, non-SPAM senders after one such report.
Unlike modern SPAM filters, these services pay no attention to the legitimacy of the sender, content of the email or the fact that multiple companies may be sending email from a given email server or IP range. In most cases, they also don't allow end users to 'whitelist' emails from a given domain or sender to certify the legitimacy of the message for themselves and other users.
- Wait 24-48 hours. Often times, these "blacklist" services will automatically de-list an email server or IP address after several days.
- Contact your IT department or email provider and let them know that the SPAM-blocking service they are using is blocking legitimate, non-SPAM emails.
- Determine which blacklist provider your email provider or company is using with a tool like http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx, and submit a request to the blacklist provider in question to remove the IP address of RSVPify mail server (which is variable; check the header of the latest email you've received from us) from the lists.
- Consider switching email providers to a modern email provider like Google's Gmail, which offers advanced, nearly error-free SPAM controls that are under the user's control.
