Editing a paid registration (guest-side)

Guests can return to a paid registration and adjust their ticket quantity or other details after checkout. RSVPify charges only the difference for increases - decreases are handled directly between guest and organizer.

Once a guest has completed a paid registration, they can return and adjust their response - for example, adding an extra ticket. RSVPify recalculates the order total automatically based on the change.

This is enabled by default for all paid events, so guests can self-serve minor changes without contacting the organizer.

  • If the change increases the total, the guest is charged only the additional amount owed.

  • If the change decreases the total, no refund is issued automatically — the guest and organizer handle that directly.

⚠️ Refunds are not automatic. Reducing a paid order does not trigger a refund. The organizer needs to process any refund manually with the guest.

Turn it off

To prevent guests from editing a paid registration, go to Event Settings → Security and disable Allow guests to edit their response.

How a guest edits their registration

Guests can return to their registration through any of these entry points: the original confirmation email, the confirmation screen shown after checkout, or by re-entering their registration email on the form.

  • Return to the registration via the confirmation email, confirmation screen, or by re-entering the registration email on the form.

  • Adjust ticket quantity or other paid details.

  • If the change increases the total, complete payment for the difference to confirm the update.

  • If the change decreases the total, contact the organizer directly to arrange a refund.

💡 Example: A guest who originally purchased 2 tickets returns to their confirmation and adds a 3rd. They're charged only for the additional ticket - not the full new order total - and the change is reflected immediately in the guest list.

Test before publishing

As a test guest, edit a paid response to increase the ticket count and confirm you're charged only the difference. Then test a reduction and confirm no refund is issued automatically - so your team knows to follow up with the guest manually.
