Website Block: Video Embed

Add a YouTube or Vimeo video directly to your event website with the Video block. RSVPify drops in a clean, responsive player wherever you place it - no embed code, no developer required.

Use the Video block to show a promo reel, a welcome message from the host, a venue or sponsor walkthrough, or a recorded session for a hybrid or virtual event.

Anywhere you'd normally paste a video link into an email, you can embed it directly on your event page instead - no embed code or developer required.

Supported platforms

The Video block supports YouTube and Vimeo URLs. Note that YouTube Shorts URLs are not supported - use a standard YouTube video URL instead. Direct video file uploads (MP4, MOV, etc.) are not supported.

Make sure your video is set to public or unlisted before embedding - private videos will not load for visitors.

Add a Video block

  1. Open your Event Website Builder.

  2. Click + to add a new block and select Video.

  3. Paste your YouTube or Vimeo URL into the Video URL field.

  4. The block previews the video inline - confirm it loaded correctly before saving.

General settings

In the General section of the block settings panel:

  • Title - displayed above the video on the page. Use this to give the video context, such as "See What It's All About" or "Event Highlights."

  • Description - optional text shown below the title. Use it to add a caption, credit, or a short line about the video's content.

Aspect ratio

Choose how the video frame is proportioned on the page:

  • 16:9 - widescreen, the standard for most YouTube and Vimeo videos. Use this unless you have a specific reason not to.

  • 4:3 - a slightly squarer frame, suited to older recordings or presentation-style content.
    ​

  • 1:1 - a square frame, useful for social-style clips or content filmed vertically and cropped square.

💡 Tip: If your video looks cropped or pillarboxed, switch to the aspect ratio that matches how it was originally recorded. Most modern video is 16:9.

Behavior

Use the Behavior settings to control how the video plays:

  • Autoplay - starts the video automatically when a visitor scrolls to the block. Most browsers require autoplay videos to be muted; visitors can unmute manually.

  • Loop - restarts the video automatically once it finishes playing.
    ​

  • Hide controls - removes the play/pause bar and player controls from view. Useful for background-style or ambient video where you don't want visitors interacting with the player.
    ​

  • Start point - enter a time in seconds to set where playback begins. For example, entering 90 starts the video at 1m 30s, skipping a slow intro or jumping straight to a highlight.

💡 Tip: For long recordings like full session replays, set a Start point so visitors land on the most compelling moment rather than a title slide.

Theme

Use the Theme section to style the area surrounding the video:

  • No container - the video sits directly on the page background with no additional styling around it.

  • Color - adds a solid color background behind the video block, useful for making the section stand out visually.
    ​

  • Image - sets a background image behind the video block for a more designed, editorial look.

The Custom CSS field is also available for advanced styling if your team has a developer applying custom design overrides.

Test before publishing

Preview your event website on both desktop and mobile before publishing. Autoplay and playback controls can render differently across browsers and devices - mobile browsers in particular are more restrictive about autoplay and may require a visitor to tap to play regardless of your settings.

Troubleshooting

Video doesn't load - confirm the video is set to public or unlisted on YouTube or Vimeo. Private videos cannot be embedded.

YouTube Shorts URL not working - Shorts URLs (youtube.com/shorts/...) are not supported. Copy the standard watch URL from the video instead (youtube.com/watch?v=...).

Autoplay isn't working - most modern browsers block autoplay with sound. This is expected behavior; visitors can press play manually, or enable Hide controls alongside Autoplay for an ambient background effect.

Video plays on desktop but not mobile - mobile browsers (especially Safari on iOS) have stricter autoplay policies. This is a browser-level restriction, not a platform bug.
