Once applied, you can filter by tag, use tags in email logic, and export tagged subsets of your contacts.
Tags are private - your guests never see them.
Add tags to contacts
Step 1: Open your Contacts list
From the left navigation bar, click the Contacts icon to open your workspace Contacts list.
Step 2: Select the contacts you want to tag
Check the box next to each contact you want to tag. You can select one, several, or all contacts at once. A purple "X selected" pill appears at the top of the list once you've made your selection.
Step 3: Open the bulk actions menu
Click the "X selected" pill to expand the bulk actions menu, then select Add Tags.
Step 4: Choose or create a tag
A dialog titled "Tag [number] Contacts" will appear. From here you can:
Search for an existing tag by name.
Check the box next to an existing tag to assign it.
Type a new tag name to create and apply it immediately.
You can apply multiple tags at once. When you're done, click Add Tags to confirm.
The selected tag(s) will appear in the Tags column for each contact you selected.
Remove tags from contacts
The process for removing tags follows the same flow:
Select the contacts you want to update using the checkboxes.
Click the "X selected" pill to open the bulk actions menu.
Select Remove tags.
Choose the tag(s) you want to remove and confirm.
Only the selected tags are removed - any other tags on those contacts remain untouched.
Where tags are useful
Filtering your Contacts list - use Add filter → Tag to quickly pull up all contacts with a specific tag.
Building event guest lists - filter by tag when importing contacts into a new event's Guest list.
Exporting - filter by tag before exporting to get a targeted CSV of a specific audience segment.
Planner tip: Create a consistent tagging system before your first event - for example, "VIP," "Speaker," "Sponsor," "Alumni," "Board Member." Applied consistently across events, tags make it easy to pull the right audience for any future event without rebuilding your list from scratch every time.
